In a deeply personal announcement, ITV reality star Ellie Egar has revealed she is stepping back from her full-time role on The Real Housewives of Cheshire. The decision comes after the heartbreaking loss of her mother, who passed away earlier this year following a prolonged battle with cancer.
A Heartbreaking Personal Tragedy
Ellie Egar, who joined the popular ITV series in early 2024, shared intimate details of her life on the show, including her engagement to partner Chris Lewis and the birth of their daughter, Gia Olympia Lisa Lewis. However, her world was shattered when her mother, who occasionally appeared on the programme, died around the time producers were planning series 19.
"Obviously, you guys know what I've been going through," Ellie explained in a candid TikTok video. "To be honest, I speak about it like it's been six months, but really this has been about three years... the last six months and then the start of this year have just been unbearably hard."
Prioritising Mental Health Over Television
The 27-year-old influencer emphasised that her grief made it impossible to continue as a main cast member. "I really had to prioritise myself, and that did not align with me going on a reality TV show," she stated. "Even though I want to show that emotional, raw side of me, it was just way too deep."
Ellie confessed that she struggled to cope, saying, "I couldn't show up for the show. I couldn't even show up for myself, so I prioritised myself and my own mental health." She clarified that this does not mean a permanent departure, noting, "that does not mean never say never to the show."
Changes to the Cast Line-up
As a result, Ellie will transition to a light guest role in the upcoming series, while iconic OG Housewife Ampika Pickston rejoins the main cast. The line-up for series 19 will also feature fan favourites such as:

- Seema Malhotra
- Paige Chohan
Additionally, the new season will include guest appearances from returning Housewives, including Tanya Bardsley, Nermina Pieters-Mekic, and others, ensuring continuity for dedicated viewers.

In her social media message, Ellie expressed love for her co-stars and excitement for the new season. "I absolutely love all the girls and I am so excited to watch the season," she said. "It looks absolutely amazing, and I have done a couple of little guest appearances – so you won't have lost me completely."
She concluded by reflecting on her need for personal realignment, stating, "I'm just trying to realign my life." The Real Housewives of Cheshire continues to be available for streaming on ITVX, with series 19 expected to air later this year, offering fans a mix of familiar faces and new dynamics.
