Manchester United and England footballer Ella Toone has revealed which TV show she would like to take part in after her playing career ends.
Revealing her post-football plans
Speaking on talkSPORT, the 26-year-old was asked about her future beyond football, with suggestions she could become a coach or manager. She replied: "No, I wouldn't go into management. Because I couldn't deal with players, like, me moaning every day at me."
She then revealed: "I just want to go on I'm A Celeb, really." She laughed and added: "You heard it here first. I want to go on I'm A Celeb... That's the programme since being a little kid and I've just loved it. Then you watch [former Lioness] Jill Scott go and win it! I want to do a Jill. I want to be Jill, yeah!"
A rising star
Toone, from Tyldesley, joined Manchester United when they formed their professional women's team in 2018 under Casey Stoney. She has gone from strength to strength with the club. She also represented England from a young age, attending training camps from age 13, where she met best friend and fellow Lioness Alessia Russo. The duo won the Euros together in 2024.
Toone received her first senior national team call-up in 2020 and made her debut in February 2021 as a half-time substitute, scoring a penalty in a 6-0 friendly win over Northern Ireland.
Ambassador role
Last month, Toone became an ambassador for Prostate Cancer UK, two years after her father Nick died of the disease at age 59 in 2024. She said: "Dad was my absolute hero. He was always there at every match; it was him that gave me my love of the game. He is the reason why I am a Lioness. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think about him and mourn what my family has lost."
She added: "Prostate cancer is now the UK’s most common cancer. In the next 10 years almost three quarters of a million men will be living with the disease or its impact. These men aren’t just numbers – they’re dads just like mine – partners, brothers and mates trying to navigate their way through the disease."
