EasyJet is launching a new initiative at four major UK airports from Friday, July 31, offering free Teddy Trackers at bag drop desks to help families keep tabs on children's soft toys during holidays.
How the Teddy Trackers work
The trackers, which attach to soft toys, allow their location to be monitored via the Life360 family safety app. The move aims to reduce the distress of losing beloved companions while travelling.
Stuart Wright, Customer Director at easyJet holidays, said: "We know that it's often the little things that make the biggest difference to a family holiday. For many children, a favourite teddy or comfort toy is an important part of the journey and losing it can be upsetting at what should be an exciting time." He added: "That's why we've launched Teddy Trackers, giving families extra peace of mind while they're away."
Airports and availability
The Teddy Trackers will be available for free at easyJet bag drop desks at London Gatwick, Manchester, Edinburgh and Belfast airports from Friday, July 31, while stocks last.
The launch coincides with easyJet expecting to take more than 370,000 families on holiday this summer.
Research findings on lost toys
Research commissioned by easyJet and easyJet holidays found that nearly two thirds (65%) of parents said their child had lost a favourite soft toy or comforter on holiday. More than half (51%) travel with a backup teddy in case of emergencies.
The survey also revealed the emotional attachment: 33% of parents consider their child’s favourite toy a member of the family, and the same proportion talk about it as if it were a real person. Almost half (49%) of parents whose child lost a favourite toy said airline and hotel staff helped reunite them.
EasyJet Captain Matthew Clutterbuck previously helped reunite a teddy bear named Shackleton with its owner after it was left on a flight to Luton. He said: "We know that a child’s favourite toy is much more than something that can be packed in a suitcase – it’s often their constant companion on every adventure, providing comfort, familiarity and reassurance throughout their journey." He added: "That's why I was so passionate about helping reunite Shackleton with his family, and why we're delighted to support families with our new Teddy Trackers."
