EastEnders viewers are convinced teenager Amy Mitchell (Ellie Dadd) is set for a new romance in a twisted storyline that will leave her father Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) fuming.
The BBC soap aired shock scenes for the teenagers of Walford this week, with tearaway Joel Marshall (Max Murray) making a surprise return to the Square after being jailed for attacking stepmum Vicki Fowler (Alice Haig) and filming a sexual encounter with Avani Nandra-Hart (Aaliyah James) without her consent.
Teens plot revenge
On Wednesday (July 22), the teenagers decided to plan revenge on Joel, with Avani and Amy inviting him to a party after he claimed he had turned over a new leaf. They were joined by Denzel Danes (Jaden Ladega), Nugget (Juhaim Rasul Choudhury), Lily (Lilia Turner), Ricky (Frankie Day), and Barney (Lewis Bridgeman).
The group tied Joel to a fence, with Amy acting aggressively, and soaked him with beer while filming the incident. Joel was left locked up for 45 minutes, but Will Mitchell (Freddie Phillips) and Barney thought it was wrong and encouraged the others to check on him. To their shock, Joel had been untied and attacked.
Jack distracted by Denise's cancer battle
Across the Square, Jack was reeling after being sent home from work on compassionate leave following Denise Fox's (Diane Parish) cancer battle. His colleague DC Craig Ingram (Matthew James-Bailey) took on his workload, and the pair were seen drinking in The Queen Vic together.
As Amy acts erratically and Jack is consumed by Denise, some viewers suggest she will take a romantic interest in Craig as part of a dark plot. On X, one viewer asked: "Could be Amy, and then we could have a DC Craig and Amy storyline." Another added: "Why was DC Craig Ingram seem interested in Amy for? #EastEnders."
On Reddit, one fan theorised: "I think it could be Amy because this new DC Craig, in his first scene, he called her a beautiful girl or something. I wonder if he's assigned to investigate the case and finds out it was Amy, and he forces her to have sex with him to keep quiet. There are already clear signs he's a bent copper IMO."
EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday on BBC One and iPlayer.
