E4 has issued a fresh tribute to Mel Schilling, the beloved relationship coach from Married At First Sight, following her death last month at the age of 54. The tribute was aired during the season finale of Married At First Sight Australia, featuring a montage of her best moments on the show.
Mel's husband, Gareth Brisbane, announced her passing after a battle with colon cancer. In a statement, he described her as an 'incredible mum, role model, and soulmate.' He urged fans to 'live life to the full' in her honour.
Mel first shared her colon cancer diagnosis in December 2023 via Instagram. She underwent keyhole surgery to remove a five-centimetre tumour and later became an ambassador for the colorectal charity Occtopus. Earlier last month, she revealed the cancer had spread to her lungs and brain.
The E4 tribute included a message: 'We thank you Mel. For your time, your courage, and your authenticity. You will be missed.' Mel's voice was heard in the background offering advice to newlyweds hoping to find love.
Mel first appeared on Married At First Sight Australia in 2016 during its second season and later featured on the UK version. Her husband's statement concluded: 'Goodbye, my love. My one. Until we meet again.'
