Duncan James, the 47-year-old star of boyband Blue, has reportedly separated from his boyfriend of six years, Rodrigo Reis. The couple are said to have parted ways a few weeks ago and have since unfollowed each other on Instagram.
A source told The Sun: “Duncan and Rodrigo have gone their separate ways after six years. A break-up is never easy but Duncan has been throwing himself into the band and keeping his mind occupied with music.” James recently performed with Blue at the Big Day Out festival in Ireland, following a week-long trip to Spain with friends.
James has shared posts on Instagram about starting a “new chapter”, writing: “Summer 2025 – a season of sea, sun, and soul-soothing magic. From quiet healing to laughter under golden skies… this chapter was one of growth, love, magic and light.” Reis, a flight attendant, has been on his own getaway to Mauritius.
The couple met in Belgium in 2019 when James was there for a Blue gig. Speaking on ITV’s Loose Women in 2021, James recalled seeing Reis across the bar and thinking he was “very much my type”. He credited Reis with helping him feel comfortable about his sexuality, saying: “He was the first partner I had who wasn’t ashamed to hold my hand.”
James, who has a daughter, had previously spoken about plans to marry Reis. The split marks the end of a relationship that James described as transformative, after years of struggling with his sexuality while in the public eye.
