Duffy has returned to the stage for the first time in 16 years, marking a major milestone in her recovery after revealing she was kidnapped, drugged, and raped in 2020. The singer, now 42, performed at Hoxton Hall in east London on Sunday, July 5, 2026, in a top-secret gig attended only by close friends, family, and select fans who signed non-disclosure agreements.
Comeback After Years of Silence
Since her 2010 album Endlessly, the BRIT Award winner had largely disappeared from public life. In February 2020, she broke her silence, waiving her right to anonymity to share her traumatic experience: she had been raped, drugged, and held hostage for several weeks. She said she was lucky to escape and has since focused on recovery.
Now, sources say she is ready to reclaim her music career. 'Duffy is raring to go, but her team are taking no chances and wants her to feel totally supported as she starts to ramp up her comeback,' a source told The Mirror. The singer has rehired trusted team members from two decades ago to ensure her safety.
Strict Security Measures
According to The Sun, Duffy has enlisted Steve Head, Noel Gallagher's protection officer, to lead her security. Her team emphasised that 'safety is their top priority.' The Hoxton Hall performance was her first since December 2010, when she appeared at Capital FM's Jingle Bell Ball at London's O2 Arena.
Attendees described the show as a success, with Duffy and her team celebrating at a local pub afterward. 'There were naturally a lot of nerves before that concert so they wanted to celebrate Duffy and what an achievement that performance was,' a source said. Music is her 'life,' they added, and it was 'amazing' to see her return.
Upcoming Disney+ Documentary
Duffy's comeback will be documented in a Disney+ documentary, which will explore her rise to fame, her withdrawal from public life, and her recovery. A synopsis reads: 'Documenting her life in this way for the first time, the documentary will be a retrospective film traversing Duffy's life, from her upbringing in Wales, through to her meteoric rise to fame and her withdrawal from public life following her unfathomable experience.' The film will include interviews with family, friends, and music industry peers, along with archive footage.
Legal Name Change
Born Aimée Anne Duffy, she has legally changed her name to Duffy Jones. Companies House filings show the change was requested on June 14, 2013, updating her director's details from Ms Aimee Duffy to Ms Duffy Jones.
The Mirror approached Duffy's spokespeople for comment but received no response.
