Drummer ridiculed for bizarre comment on Olivia Rodrigo's all-female festival
Drummer slammed for weird comment on Olivia Rodrigo's festival

Olivia Rodrigo recently announced her all-female festival, Daisy Chain Fields, featuring artists like Chappell Roan, Stevie Nicks, Garbage, Doechii, and Katseye. The event, set for August 29 in Irvine, California, will donate all net proceeds to charities supporting women and girls. However, Jacob Tomsky, the 47-year-old drummer of Cigarettes After Sex, sparked ridicule with a since-deleted comment on a video of Rodrigo.

Drummer's comment draws backlash

Tomsky wrote: 'We won't be there lol tf,' and when asked what he meant, replied: 'I mean, it feels like some forced promo for a festival, right? I'm just saying our band won't be performing there.' Fans were baffled, as the all-male band likely wasn't invited. Social media users mocked him, with one saying, 'Declining to go to a party you never received an invite to lmfao,' and another branding him 'weird.'

Festival lineup and purpose

Rodrigo called the lineup 'truly insane' and shared her excitement on Instagram: 'I've had a dream of doing this festival for years and I am so ecstatic it's finally coming true!! Daisy Chain Fields features an all-women lineup and 100 per cent of the net proceeds will go to charities dedicated to advancing and advocating for women and girls.' The poster includes a pin saying 'Bans off our bodies,' referencing abortion rights.

Rodrigo released her third studio album, You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love, weeks before the announcement. It topped the UK album chart with the biggest opening week of her career.
