Downton Abbey actors Laura Carmichael and Michael C Fox have become parents for the first time. The couple, who met on the set of the period drama, welcomed a son named Luca in March 2021, according to The Sun. The baby is now 14 months old, and the pair have successfully kept their family life private during the first year.
Carmichael, who played Lady Edith Crawley, and Fox, who portrayed footman Andrew Parker, both reprised their roles in the 2019 film and the recent sequel, Downton Abbey: A New Era. They confirmed their relationship in 2016 after keeping it under wraps during the show's final season.
In interviews, the couple have shared little about their romance but expressed gratitude for meeting on set. Carmichael told Town and Country in 2019: 'When you are able to work, and love it, it is such a joy. And I've fallen in love and made wonderful friends – how lucky am I?' Fox added to the Sunday Post that they try to keep their relationship separate from Downton, though he enjoyed working with his 'best pal'.
The new parents made a rare public appearance together at the London premiere of Downton Abbey: A New Era last month, posing for photos on the red carpet.
