Siobhan Finneran Opens Up About Separate Living Arrangement with Don Gilet

Happy Valley star Siobhan Finneran, 59, has revealed why she and her partner, Death in Paradise actor Don Gilet, 58, maintain separate homes. The couple, who met on the set of ITV's The Loch in 2017, began their romance a year later in 2018.

Finneran resides in Saddleworth, while Gilet is based in north London. However, the geographical distance does not trouble them, as Gilet spends seven months of the year filming in Guadeloupe. Speaking to The Times, Finneran said: 'That's just the way it is, isn't it? That's how it's always been. And he's out of the country for seven months a year doing Death in Paradise anyway.'

The actress has visited Gilet on the French Caribbean island, describing it as an 'amazing place'. She dismissed the idea of them being a 'power couple', joking: 'I've not heard that one before. We are both off the telly. Other than that we're pretty normal. You wouldn't think we were a power couple this morning, both running around trying to get out of the house on time. Hopeless.'

Finneran first hinted at the relationship in a 2019 interview with The Guardian, referring to Gilet as 'my fella'. The couple had previously been seen together at events before confirming their romance. Gilet will next appear as DI Mervin Wilson in the Death in Paradise Christmas Special, airing on 28 December at 8.30pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
