Director Michael Head has broken his silence after Katie Price failed to attend the premiere of Jackie The Stripper, describing her absence as a “missed opportunity” while also praising her performance in the film.
Speaking exclusively, Head expressed disappointment that the former glamour model did not show up, despite what he believed was a clear expectation that she would attend. “It’s a shame Katie missed it because it was a missed opportunity, in my honest opinion. I am disappointed as she personally asked me for tickets, so I do feel a little let down. We all assumed she was attending, so yes, it is a shame,” he said.
Premiere Success Despite Absence
Despite his disappointment, Head was keen to stress that the premiere itself was a huge triumph for the independent production. “The event was a huge success. The media coverage was fantastic. We completely sold out. The place was buzzing. People said they hadn't seen Leicester Square buzzing and packed like that for a long, long time, possibly never for an independent film,” he added.
The film was well received by guests and industry figures, with strong support from the celebrity world. Head made clear that his comments were not a criticism of Katie Price as a performer, praising her professionalism on set.
Praise for Katie Price
“I’ve got to caveat that with she was great on set. Loads of people asked what she was like and she was a model professional. Positive energy, nice person, great sense of humour. Would I work with her again? Yeah, of course. There’s no doubt about that,” Head said.
He also suggested he would be open to expanding her role in future projects. “She can act. She took direction well. It was only a small part but she gave a good performance. Would I write a bigger part for her again? 100 per cent.”
Addressing Public Perception
Head also addressed the public perception surrounding Katie, suggesting she often attracts unfair negativity. “She brings an awful lot of negativity with her, which I think is a shame because I don’t think she deserves a lot of the hate she gets. There’s a toxic side to social media, no doubt about that, and she gets a lot of it aimed at her. But she’s also got a fan base and for indie film that’s very important,” he shared.
International Distribution and Sequel Plans
Head added that the film has already secured international distribution, with screenings planned in North America, including a New York premiere on July 28, alongside releases in territories including Taiwan, Portugal and Spain. “There’s interest in a sequel and trilogy,” he said. “There’s a lot to celebrate. It’s hard to make a film and Jackie The Stripper has been successful. We should be getting behind that.”
Despite Katie's absence, the night proved a major success, with Leicester Square packed out and guests praising the atmosphere. A large part of the evening’s buzz was credited to headline sponsor HB_London, whose presence was described as central to the event’s glamour and momentum.
Guests including Jamie Lomas, Kymberly Wyatt, Charlotte Kirk and Vanessa Feltz were among those in attendance, bringing strong celebrity support to the independent film. Organisers also highlighted the work of RoaR Public Relations in securing sponsorship and VIP turnout.
