Denise Welch has described her son Matty Healy's wedding weekend as the "most magical 3 days of my life." The 1975 frontman, 37, married American model Gabbriette, 28, on Saturday in Los Angeles.
Wedding Weekend Details
Welch, known for her roles in Coronation Street, Waterloo Road, and Hollyoaks, and as a Loose Women panellist, shared photos and videos with friends on Instagram. She captioned one post: "This weekend was the most magical 3 days of my life!!! I can't wait to share it with you!" Tagging friends, including Coronation Street co-star Sally Dynevor, she added: "All the aunties together in LA."
Official Statement and Engagement
A statement from the couple's representatives said: "Matty Healy and Gabbriette Bechtel were married yesterday at a private ceremony in Los Angeles, attended by their family and close friends." The couple were first linked months after Healy split from Taylor Swift, whom he dated for a few months in 2023. Gabbriette sparked engagement rumours in June 2024 after posting a photo of a large black ring on her ring finger on Instagram, writing: "Marrying The 1975 is very brat." The next day, Welch confirmed the news on Loose Women, saying: "I obviously have known for a few weeks that Matty got engaged... I couldn't be more thrilled. We couldn't be happier – she is everything I would want in a daughter-in-law."
Pre-Wedding Celebrations
Last month, Welch revealed on the Tom's Hirschsprung's Podcast that "Matty gets married in July." Healy celebrated with a stag do performing with a The 1975 tribute band. Gabbriette posted snaps from her Las Vegas hen do, including being handcuffed and carried onto a plane by a man dressed as a police officer, wearing a vintage white Chanel tweed skirt suit. Gabbriette is lead vocalist of punk rock band Nasty Cherry, formed by Charli XCX, whose husband George Daniel is The 1975's drummer.
