Denise van Outen Wants Adele for Gogglebox Collaboration

Denise van Outen is plotting an unlikely collaboration with Adele, but not on the microphone—from the sofa. The TV star is back gracing screens on Celebrity Gogglebox with old TV pal Johnny Vaughan. Over the years, she has appeared on the Channel 4 show numerous times with an ex-boyfriend and Blue star Duncan James. She would love to do it again, but perhaps with a superstar singer: Adele.

Denise's Dream Gogglebox Partner

Denise told the Daily Star on behalf of Sky Vegas: “I think Adele would be really funny on Gogglebox. She’s just really funny, and I reckon she’d be good fun to sit and watch lots of TV shows with. I think she’d be very, very funny.”

Not only is Denise a fan of Adele, the two run in similar social circles, and they are both singers. In fact, Denise recently returned to pop music. Does she regret not coming back sooner? She replied: “I wish I had done more of it [music]. However, I was so focused on my TV career, and I’ve always been really lucky to be very busy. My diary never really allowed me to have a dual career because, if you’re going to be a singer, there’s a lot of touring and travel involved, and I was always filming.”

Denise's Musical Comeback

Last year, she released A Bit of Me, a collection of intimate ballad interpretations of classics like George Michael's A Different Corner and Brother Beyond's The Harder I Try, alongside a duet with Duncan James. “I wouldn’t say it’s a regret, but I do wish I had done more of it,” she told the Star. “However, it’s never too late. I’ve recorded an album, I did a tour this year, and I loved it. I think it’s something that has to happen at the right time in your life.”

Balancing Family and Career

The other stumbling block, which Adele knows a lot about, was starting a family just when Denise could have started a major pop career. She added: “When I became a mum, I never wanted to leave my daughter for long periods of time when she was younger, so I had to choose my work around my family life. There was a good reason why I stepped back from it, but now feels like the right time.”
