Aaron Phypers files for divorce from Denise Richards six months after she said they'd never split

Aaron Phypers, the husband of actress Denise Richards, has filed for divorce after six years of marriage, just months after the couple insisted they would never separate. The 52-year-old filed documents in Los Angeles on Monday citing irreconcilable differences, with the date of separation listed as 4 July.

According to court documents seen by US Weekly, Phypers is requesting spousal support and the return of his power tools. The filing also reveals Richards's alleged monthly income of $250,000, while Phypers claims he earned nothing in the past year after closing his business.

The couple do not have children together, though Phypers listed Richards's 14-year-old daughter Eloise as his stepdaughter. Richards and Phypers began dating in June 2017 and married in September 2018 in a ceremony filmed for The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

The news comes only months after Richards, 54, stated on the March premiere of her spin-off show Denise Richards & Her Wild Things that she would 'never get divorced again, even if we hate each other'. During the same episode, Phypers agreed to stay by her side, suggesting they could simply live in separate homes if needed.

Phypers was previously married to Nicollette Sheridan for six months, while Richards was married to Charlie Sheen for four years, with whom she shares two daughters. She has previously spoken about feeling guilty for ending that marriage, but said she realised she would not want her daughters to marry someone like Sheen.

The Independent has contacted Phypers and representatives for Richards for comment.
