Debbie Harry Stuns at Supergirl Premiere with Ex Chris Stein

Debbie Harry, the iconic frontwoman of Blondie, made a rare red carpet appearance at the Supergirl premiere in New York on Monday night, looking as cool as ever at 80 years old. She was joined by her former boyfriend and fellow bandmate Chris Stein, 76, at the event held at The Plaza at 300 Ashland.

Debbie Harry's Red Carpet Style

Harry wore a striking black jumpsuit paired with a neon green shirt, showcasing her radiant complexion just days before her 81st birthday on June 26. The film, based on Tom King's 2022 comic book series Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, stars Jason Momoa, Eve Ridley, Matthias Schoenaerts, and David Corenswet. Other attendees included Milly Alcock, Nicholas Hoult, and Rachel Brosnahan.

Reflections on Aging and Cosmetic Surgery

In her memoir Face It, Harry opened up about the pressure to maintain her looks, comparing cosmetic surgery to a flu shot. "I think it's the same as having a flu shot basically, another way of looking after yourself," she wrote. "If it makes you feel better and look better and work better, that's what it's all about." She added, "Everybody knows that I've had plastic surgery. I did it for business reasons."

Blondie's Legacy and Personal Struggles

Harry formed Blondie with Chris Stein in the 1970s, and the band produced hits like 'Atomic', 'Rapture', and 'The Tide Is High'. They split in 1982 but reunited in 1997, releasing the number-one single 'Maria' in 1999. Harry has also been open about her past heroin addiction, which she addressed in her book, noting that she even took heroin into hospital for Stein. She went to rehab, describing it as "a rough, depressing time of life."

Encounter with Ted Bundy

In her memoir, Harry also recounted a harrowing experience in the early 1970s when she was lured into a car by a man she believed to be serial killer Ted Bundy. She escaped, and her description of the vehicle matched Bundy's 1968 VW, though police believed he was in Florida at the time.
