David Beckham has given fans a glimpse into his latest rural pursuit, revealing a gardening injury sustained while preparing his vegetable beds for winter at his £12 million Cotswolds estate. The former England captain took to Instagram on Sunday to share his progress, showing off the leeks, red onions, kale and garlic he has been cultivating.
In a video from his chicken coop, the 49-year-old explained that mulching the vegetable beds had left his back 'in bits', but he remained 'very happy' with the results. Joking with his wife Victoria, he said, 'You're welcome, Victoria,' before treating himself to a box of Quality Streets ahead of Christmas.
Fans were quick to praise Beckham's green-fingered efforts, with one quipping, 'Move over Clarkson's Farm, we need Beckham's Allotment as a regular show.' Another wrote, 'I actually love Farmer David! He needs his own TV show.'
The Grade-II listed farmhouse, which Beckham shares with Victoria and their children, boasts an array of amenities including fruit orchards, a greenhouse, an outdoor swimming pool, a football pitch, a £100k treehouse, a £50,000 safari tent, and a bespoke sauna. The property is reported to have doubled in value since they began renovations.
Beckham, who has described the estate as a place 'where we could escape', also owns a London townhouse in Holland Park and a $24 million apartment in New York's One Hundred Museum building. Reports suggest he is now eyeing a $60 million waterfront mansion in Miami, complete with nine bedrooms, a rooftop bar and a chef's kitchen.
