McFly star Danny Jones has revealed the heartwarming moment his young son realised he was the Piranha on The Masked Singer UK. The 37-year-old singer was crowned the winner of the 2024 series on Saturday night, beating Cricket and Bigfoot in the final.
Jones took to Instagram to share an adorable clip showing him watching the show with his son Cooper Alf Jones. As Jones was unmasked as Piranha, Cooper excitedly shouted “It’s daddy!” and jumped on his laughing father. The video also captured the pair chanting “Champion, champion!”
Following the win, Jones said: “I’ve had the most amazing time, I can escape behind here and just be Piranha and sing these songs. I’ve learnt so much, I’m able to sing higher now just from being on this show. I am so happy, thank you!” He described the experience as “surreal” and admitted it was difficult keeping his identity a secret, especially while on tour.
The video drew reactions from fellow celebrities, including Michelle Keegan, Pixie Lott, and Emma Barton, who praised the touching moment. Jones also joked that his McFly bandmates would be surprised by his win, adding: “I am my own worst enemy, so I'm always like, 'That wasn’t very good', so they always build me up. They’ll guess me straight away.”
