Former EastEnders star Danniella Westbrook has been seen for the first time since her latest round of facial reconstruction surgery. The 52-year-old actress smiled as she posed for photographers at the Sellebrity Soccer charity football match in east London on Monday, July 13.
Public appearance after surgery
Arriving at the event, Danniella wore a floral maxi dress, her hair in a ponytail with a fringe covering part of her face. She also wore large black-tinted sunglasses and carried a brown leather handbag with black flats. The outing marked her first public appearance since undergoing an upper vascular flap procedure and lip augmentation to reverse a hare lip.
Surgical journey and future plans
Danniella has been open about her journey to reconstruct her face after years of substance abuse and health problems. She recently revealed she needs around "five or six" more surgeries to achieve her desired look. Earlier this month, she shared photos of her recovery, showing stitches on her upper lip from the procedure to lower her lip to its normal position.
Speaking to Vannessa Feltz on Channel 5, Danniella said she had flown to Dubai for a series of surgeries earlier this year. She also admitted she will soon need a metal cheekbone implant to prevent her face from caving in. "Since I got older the osteoporosis has set in on my bones," she explained. "On this side of my face, I don't have any bone at all. So they've got to rebuild all my bones. At the moment it's filler, but they've really got to do a metal bone."
Ongoing treatment
Danniella revealed she will undergo surgery "every two and a half to three months" to rebuild her face. The metal cheekbone will need to be connected to the upper part of her face where the bone is corroding. Despite the challenges, she appeared radiant at the charity match, enjoying the summer weather.
