Dani Dyer has made a surprising confession about her father, actor Danny Dyer: despite being a multi-millionaire, the 29-year-old Love Island winner still relies on her dad to cover her phone bill. Dani, who is reportedly worth more than £3 million, shared the revelation in a birthday tribute to Danny on Instagram last Friday.
Dani shot to fame in 2018 when she won Love Island with then-boyfriend Jack Fincham. Since then, she has built a successful TV and podcast career, and is now married to West Ham footballer Jarrod Bowen, whose net worth is estimated at over £12 million. However, her financial independence hasn’t stopped Danny from footing the bill for her mobile phone.
Posting a photo of herself with her father on his 49th birthday, Dani wrote: “Happy birthday to you. Thank you for everything you do. So lucky to have you and all the laughs we have together. Love you loads. Also thank you for still paying my phone bill!” She added a string of crying-with-laughter emojis to the message.
The former EastEnders star celebrated his birthday with a family dinner at a restaurant, joined by his wife Joanne Mas, Dani, his daughter Sunnie, Dani’s husband Jarrod, and Sunnie’s boyfriend Will.
Danny has previously spoken about the challenges of fatherhood in the 2017 Channel 4 documentary Parenting for Idiots, describing parenting as “hard every day” and comparing it to “borrowing a baby orangutan”. He also revealed his dislike for school run small talk, saying he just wants to “see my baby coming out, get her in the motor”.
Fans will see more of Dani soon as she returns to Strictly Come Dancing this autumn, after an injury forced her to withdraw last year. She joins a cast including fellow Love Island star Cach Mercer, hairdresser Chris Appleton, singer Delta Goodrem, and EastEnders actress Lacey Turner.
