Dani Dyer's Strictly pain eased by Jarrod Bowen's ice baths

Strictly Come Dancing contestant Dani Dyer is now able to enjoy ice baths and massages alongside her footballer partner Jarrod Bowen, thanks to the demands of the dance show. The West Ham winger, accustomed to post-match recovery routines, has brought his expertise home, and Dyer is benefiting from the same treatment after her performances.

Recovery routine at home

Dyer revealed that Bowen purchased an ice machine for their home. Speaking about her recovery, she said: “Jarrod bought an ice machine. I’ve had a massage today, Jarod loves the physio he always says it important to do it. (Now) we have unlimited massages whenever you want, wake up - massage.”

Bowen attended the show on Saturday to support Dyer, who described his enthusiasm: “he’s so excited to meet everyone, he's just a normal guy who plays football.” His sister and mother also visited the studio, with Dyer noting that his mum is a devoted Strictly fan who had wanted her to take part for years.

Family support and dance tips

Bowen has been promised some dance tips from Dyer’s professional partner, Nikita Kuzmin. In return, Dyer joked that she told the Ukrainian dancer, “he can teach you how to play football!”

Dyer was due to appear on Strictly a year earlier but had to withdraw after breaking her ankle. She now refers to the ankle as “Margaret”, adding: “She is great. She's fine, I dunno why she's a she!”

Movie week performance

For movie week, Dyer and Kuzmin performed a waltz to Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, a dream come true for the 30-year-old. She explained: “It's like one of my childhood favourites. I grew up watching the film. So, yeah, when you played the song, I was just so excited to be a princess and my kids love it. So it just felt really right to do this dance.”

Her father, actor Danny Dyer, was in the audience the previous week and reacted vocally when judge Craig Revel Horwood criticised her performance. Dani laughed: “That's just him, isn't it? That is just my dad. He loved it. He really, really did. He was so, super proud. Like, he rung me the next day, you know what his reactions are like?”

Looking ahead

With eliminations now taking place weekly, Dyer is choosing not to dwell on the possibility of leaving. She said: “I haven't thought about it, we are all so supportive of one another, you get close and bond so quickly. I really try not think about eliminations.”
