Cruz Beckham, the youngest son of David and Victoria Beckham, played his second headline gig at Clwb Ifor Bach in Cardiff, showing signs of potential as a future rock star. The venue, a historic Welsh-language music club, was mistakenly referred to as being in "Cardiff, England" on commemorative tickets, but the audience focused on the performance.
Beckham's set was a mix of styles, from landfill indie to solipsistic ballads, reflecting his struggle to find his identity amid public scrutiny. Despite the nepo-baby label, his earnest stage presence and unstudied enthusiasm won over the half-full room. He quipped during one song, "I promise I'm not an arsehole," drawing laughs.
Highlights included 'For Your Love', co-written with producers Justin Raisen and Lewis Pesacov, which featured a Beatles-esque psych-pop pivot. 'Wear and Tear' mixed dubby bass with baggy rhythms, while 'Better Times' showcased Beckham's characterful guitar playing, including a fuzz-bomb solo. The performance suggested that, while he may never be a geography teacher, he could make a go of music.
