Cruz Beckham thanks parents for support amid family drama

Cruz Beckham has paid tribute to his parents and thanked them for the support they've given the family amid the ongoing feud with brother Brooklyn.

Pop wannabe Cruz drops his debut EP, Wear & Tear on August 21 but admits it would not have been possible without David and Victoria Beckham's advice and encouragement.

Cruz on parental guidance

Cruz, 21, said: “They’ve taught me throughout the years to just work on your craft and hone-in and make sure you’re the best version of yourself at what you’re doing.

“So, you know, if they didn’t teach me that, I don’t think I’d be able to get up on stage and play guitar and be confident enough to show what I’ve been working at for a long time. You know, I feel like it’s just, yeah, it’s just working and working and becoming the best version of yourself, I think.”

Trusting Posh's advice

It's been a traumatic year for the Beckhams since eldest child Brooklyn became estranged accusing his folks of controlling behaviour, pressuring for name-rights and ruining his wedding.

However, Cruz is more than happy to listen to his elders, particularly his mum who, as Posh Spice, has plenty of music experience and occasional words of wisdom.

He told SiriusXM Hits 1 Miami: “She’s just like, ‘Well, you’re going to do it anyway, so make sure you do it the best of your ability.

“And you know, I understand that she’s definitely played for a ridiculous amount of people, so I trust her opinion a lot, heavily.

“She just tells me that it’s all going to be okay. Just relax. And I mean, she didn’t have to play guitar on stage, though. So, I’m just saying I have that. I do have that.”

New music and girlfriend

Cruz also listens to his girlfriend - Brazilian-German singer and songwriter Jackie Apostel - who supports his music.

The youngster, who wrote the song For Your Love about Apostel, explained: “I’m just excited to be able to put a body of work out. “I’m really, really excited. I can’t wait to actually give everybody more than just one or two songs.”

Beckham will play UK festivals Reading and Leeds, plus Rock’N’Roll Circus next month.
