Georgina Rodriguez has confirmed her engagement to football star Cristiano Ronaldo with a social media post. Alongside a picture of a large ring on her wedding finger, she wrote: 'Yes I do. In this and in all my lives.'
The couple have been together for nearly a decade, meeting at a Gucci store in 2016. They have two children together, and Rodriguez acts as stepmother to Ronaldo’s other three children. Previous speculation about their engagement had been fuelled by photos of a ring, but neither had officially confirmed a proposal until now.
Ronaldo, who recently turned 40, had previously said the timing for marriage wasn't 'quite right', but admitted it would happen eventually. In a 2019 interview, he described Rodriguez as 'the greatest love of my life' and said they would marry 'one day, for sure'.
The Portuguese forward has referred to Rodriguez as his 'wife' in public appearances, including at the 2024 Globe Soccer Awards in Dubai. On her Netflix reality show, Rodriguez noted that friends often joked about when the wedding would take place, adding that the decision 'is not up to me'.
Ronaldo’s career has taken him from Real Madrid to Juventus, a return to Manchester United, and now a lucrative contract with Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr. He has hinted that retirement is approaching, saying there is no set date but that he is 'enjoying the moment'.
