Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood has shared his "brutally honest" true feelings on the new BBC spin-off show. On Tuesday night (September 29), Ellie Taylor returned to the helm of the new weeknight spin-off series, It Takes Two.
As she settled into her new role, she welcomed the 61-year-old ballroom judge onto the statement pink sofa for his first interview of the series. The Australian dancer made his feelings on the show makeover clear from the outset.
Praise for the new set
He gushed: "It's a pleasure to see you. I'm loving your new set, darling; it's reminding me of my renovation project, with its beautiful floorboards and unfinished brickwork."
The TV presenter then grilled the judge on the BBC show, asking him bluntly: "Why are you being so tight on people?" after revealing his opening scores for this year's contestants are the lowest they've been in six years.
Defending his scores
The TV star was quick to defend his scores, arguing: "I'm just doing what I always do, but, of course, the first show is always difficult because we don't get to explain ourselves a lot."
Giving viewers an insight into the pressures of the first live show, Craig admitted: "It's very fast. You've got a lot of people to get through, and you literally only have 10 seconds to speak."
A longer slot
The Ted Lasso star chuckled: "Well, you've got ages tonight, Craig" as he agreed: "I heard, I've got seven minutes, I've never been honoured with that length of time before."
At the end of the segment, the broadcaster asked her burning question as she put herself at the mercy of Craig's judgment.
