Craig Charles Alleges I'm A Celeb WhatsApp Leak Over Scarlett Moffatt's Pregnancy
Craig Charles Claims I'm A Celeb WhatsApp Group Leak

Coronation Street actor Craig Charles has publicly claimed that a member of the I'm A Celebrity... South Africa WhatsApp group chat has been leaking confidential stories to the press. This revelation comes shortly after the announcement of fellow campmate Scarlett Moffatt's second pregnancy.

Privacy Breach in Celebrity Circle

The 61-year-old television personality, who recently participated in the All Stars edition of the reality show filmed in South Africa, disclosed that Scarlett Moffatt had specifically requested the group to maintain secrecy regarding her pregnancy news. This request was made due to her well-documented fertility struggles, which she openly discussed with her jungle companions.

Craig Charles' GMB Interview

Appearing on ITV's Good Morning Britain on Tuesday, Craig Charles provided detailed insights into the situation. He confirmed that Scarlett had informed the WhatsApp group about her pregnancy several weeks prior to her public announcement on Monday night. However, he expressed his deliberate disengagement from the group chat, citing concerns over privacy breaches.

'I haven't been that engaged with the WhatsApp group because someone in the group is selling stories from the WhatsApp group to the newspapers,' Charles stated emphatically during the live interview. 'So I kind of went, ooh, I'm not getting involved that much. We did know a couple of weeks ago, and I'm so glad for her because she's lovely.'

Scarlett Moffatt's Joyful Announcement

Scarlett Moffatt, the 35-year-old former Gogglebox star, officially announced her second pregnancy via social media on Monday evening. She is expecting another child with her fiancé Scott Dobinson, with whom she already shares a son named Jude. The campmates were reportedly aware of her difficulties conceiving, making the pregnancy news particularly heartwarming for the group.

Charles elaborated on this point, noting, 'She was talking in there about finding it difficult to conceive and to come out and basically get very quickly pregnant after coming out of the jungle, everyone is really chuffed for her.' The South Africa series was prerecorded in September, adding context to the timeline of events.

Identity of the Leaker Remains Unknown

When directly questioned by host Susanna Reid about the potential identity of the leaker, Craig Charles maintained that he had no definitive knowledge. 'No, people have suspicions, but I couldn't possibly comment. It's certainly not me!' he asserted, distancing himself from any involvement in the alleged information selling.

Second Jungle Stints Prove Successful

The I'm A Celebrity... South Africa All Stars edition features returning celebrities who have previously appeared on the main show. Craig Charles first entered the jungle in 2014 but left prematurely following his brother's unexpected death. His second attempt has proven significantly more successful, with strong indications that he may reach the finale scheduled for Friday.

He is not alone in experiencing improved fortunes during a return to the jungle environment. Reality television personality Gemma Collins, who famously lasted only three days during her initial 2014 appearance, also demonstrated greater resilience this time around. She undertook multiple trials before ultimately being voted out by her fellow campmates.

Reflecting on her experience, Collins remarked, 'My second time in the jungle was nothing but amazing. The first time I was in there, experiences happened beyond my control, so I wasn't really going in there with the right mindset. This time, I went in there all guns blazing. It was like a sort of holiday, but a lovely one.'

Unique Format of the All Stars Series

The South African version of I'm A Celebrity introduces several format deviations from the traditional show. Rather than crowning a King or Queen of the jungle, the winner will receive the title of Jungle Legend. Additionally, the elimination process differs significantly; instead of public voting, the celebrities themselves vote each other out based on trial performances.

Other notable participants who have already departed the camp include The Only Way Is Essex star Gemma Collins, comedian Seann Walsh, and former boxer David Haye. The series, which was filmed during the previous year, continues to air on ITV1 and the streaming platform ITVX, maintaining viewer engagement with its unique celebrity dynamics and behind-the-scenes revelations.
