Subway marked the launch of its new Buttermilk Ranch sauce by sending a cowboy on horseback through the streets of London. The fast food chain's Ranch Ranger, show jumper Fabian Williams, galloped through South London bearing a special delivery of the new Chicken Nacho Ranch Sub.
Cowboy Stunt Marks Launch
The cowboy was decked out in double denim and a holster loaded with Buttermilk Ranch sauce. The bespoke outfit featured hand-finished embroidery, Western fringe, gold studded detailing, and Subway's trademark green and yellow colour scheme, putting a twist on cowboy-core fashion.
Ranch Craze in the UK
The creamy condiment is rolling out in stores nationwide, responding to Britain's surging appetite for ranch dressing that followed the World Cup. Scores of people discovered the sauce this summer, sparking thousands of reactions online and a 20% surge in search interest over the past month. Across the pond, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) was even forced to warn fans against smuggling the dressing in their hand luggage, with many subsequently clamouring for it to be made available in the UK.
One user on X wrote: "Why did no one tell me about ranch sauce?" Another quipped: "Who's going to start the ranch pipeline to Europe?"
New Menu Item Details
Subway claims to have answered the call, adding Buttermilk Ranch to its sauce range alongside the new Chicken Nacho Ranch. According to the chain, it brings together succulent rotisserie-style chicken, cool original Doritos, double mozzarella and cheddar alongside the new creamy and tangy Buttermilk Ranch sauce.
Quotes from Subway Executives
Kirstey Elston, EMEA Senior Marketing Director at Subway, said: "Ranch has taken the UK by storm over the past few weeks, with fans going to increasingly creative lengths to get their hands on the stuff - including smuggling bottles in their carry-on. We decided there was only one way to announce its arrival at Subway. Enter our very own Ranch Ranger, saddling up in full cowboy attire and riding in to save the day, and everyone's carry-on allowance, by bringing the ranch to them."
Cathy Goodwin, Director of Culinary and Innovation at Subway EMEA, said: "Ranch has been having a moment - and it's a flavour people have been actively seeking out. From social feeds, to supermarkets, and now, to our menu - we're excited to introduce Buttermilk Ranch to our wide sauce line-up this summer and as another way for guests to have it their way."
Buttermilk Ranch is now available at participating Subway restaurants throughout the UK.
