Courteney Cox, best known for her role as Monica Geller in the sitcom Friends, has shared her fondness for the Somerset town of Frome. The actress has visited the area multiple times, often staying at Babington House, a manor house about 15 minutes from the town centre.
Courteney's Frome connections
During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Cox discussed her experiences in Frome. She said: "I was over in England. We go to this place; it is the most beautiful place called Babington House. It is outside London, like two and a half hours, and it is a place called Frome. This is our third year. It is fantastic."
Cox previously shared glimpses of Frome on Instagram as early as 2021, reinforcing her long-standing connection to the area. She visited Babington House with her former partner, Snow Patrol's Johnny McDaid, for New Year's Eve in 2018.
Exploring Catherine Hill
Frome's vibrant centre is Catherine Hill, a cobbled street lined with independent shops, cafés, and community spaces. Visitors can browse a wide range of goods including clothing, crafts, books, toys, homeware, plants, and food. The Frome Independent Market
On the first Sunday of each month from March to December, the town hosts 'The Frome Independent', an award-winning street market featuring craftspeople, designers, makers, food producers, and vintage traders. Another visitor commented: "Great market. Our second visit to this market since the summer, and what a great one it is. The stalls were different both times, and the prices were reasonable. Busy, but as we went later in the day it was not too bad. Good atmosphere and very friendly people."
Frome boasts over 500 listed buildings and a lively local community, making it a compact yet historically rich destination for day trips or staycations.
