Coronation Street actress Tina O'Brien has announced the death of her father, sharing the news with fans on social media. The 42-year-old, known for playing Sarah Platt on the ITV soap since 1999, revealed her 'heart is very heavy' in an emotional Instagram Story on Tuesday.
In her tribute, O'Brien wrote: 'I've been a little quiet on here. My dad recently died. I haven't quite known how to put it into words. My heart is very heavy but I'm grateful he is no longer suffering.' She thanked those who supported her, adding, 'You mean the world to me xx.' The post included rainbow, star, heart and praying hands emojis.
O'Brien has portrayed Sarah Platt on Coronation Street since 1999, with additional television credits including Call the Midwife, Waterloo Road and Doctors. Her most recent Instagram posts in October and early November showed a spa retreat and behind-the-scenes glimpses of Christmas episodes for the soap.
The actress also took part in the AI 'little me' trend in September, describing the experience as emotional. Earlier this year, she revealed a new relationship with interior designer Adam Fadlé after separating from her husband Adam Crofts. O'Brien has two children: daughter Scarlett, 16, from a previous relationship with actor Ryan Thomas, and son Beau, 10, with Crofts.
