Coronation Street actress Beth Nixon, who portrays the manipulative athletics coach Megan Walsh, is at the center of a gripping storyline involving the grooming of teenager Will Driscoll. As the court case reaches its climax, viewers are eager to see if justice is served. Off-screen, Beth has undergone a striking hair transformation and has shared details of her journey to landing her first television role.
Beth Nixon's Hair Transformation
Since filming her final scenes as Megan, Beth has debuted a new look on Instagram. She cut her long blonde locks into a bob and dyed them a fiery auburn. Her Corrie co-stars praised the change, with Harriet Bibby (Summer Spellman) commenting "Omg!" and Olivia Frances Brown (Jodie Ramsey) writing "oh hiiiiii" with a shocked emoji. Sydney Martin (Betsy Swain) added "INSANE!!!!"
Life Before Coronation Street
Beth, 25, from York, studied drama at the Arden School of Theatre in Manchester. Before landing the role, she worked as a skin clinic manager and previously as a waitress. Upon learning she secured the part, she was overwhelmed. "I was at work when my agent called me... everybody in the clinic could hear me screaming my head off and then I cried," she told York College. She added, "It's been a hard time and I was really close to quitting... this just came at exactly the right time."
Her Actor Ex-Boyfriend
Coronation Street marks Beth's television debut. Prior to this, she appeared in a McDonald's advert filmed in Switzerland alongside her actor ex-boyfriend. "I was flown out there for four days... getting paid to eat McDonald's all day in Switzerland!" she recalled. She also completed a few plays and radio voiceovers.
Two Coronation Street Auditions
Beth nearly landed a role on Corrie before securing the part of Megan. She auditioned for the role of Lauren Bolton and for a girl who harassed Lauren at the mother and baby unit. The part of Lauren ultimately went to actress Cait Fitton, who debuted in 2022.
Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8:30pm on ITV and ITVX.
