Coronation Street villain Jodie Ramsey, played by Olivia Frances Brown, allowed teenager Lily Platt to be blamed for her despicable actions on Wednesday, sparking a family row.
Jodie, one of the most complained about villains the show has ever seen, has stooped even lower in her bid to steal her sister Shona Platt's life. After trying to seduce Shona's partner David, messing with her dad Doug's bipolar medication and making Shona question her mental health, she has now targeted a child.
Lily framed at family party
David's teenaged daughter Lily Platt was left in tears as she faced horrifying accusations, after being set up by her aunt Jodie. Lily's stepmother Shona has been struggling since the premature birth of her baby daughter Hope earlier this year.
With things tense for the family, Shona has sparked concern after seemingly making errors with her baby daughter, while she also keeps hearing her baby crying when she isn't even in the house. She has no idea that Jodie is to blame for all of this.
In a cruel twist, after Bethany Platt found Jodie's recording of Harper's cries and vowed to expose her, Jodie took action and framed Lily. At a family party, Lily's phone appeared to play the baby's recorded cries through a speaker.
Bethany takes action
Jodie had put the recording on the phone after Shona admitted it didn't sound real. Lily was accused of trying to make Shona think she was hearing things, and trying to mess with her head. As a tearful Lily protested her innocence, Shona ignored her, adamant it was Lily. A boastful Jodie let Lily take the blame, as both Lily and Shona fled the house.
Jodie then had the audacity to tell Shona to go easy on Lily as she was "just a kid". But there could be hope for Lily, as at the end of the episode, Bethany took action. It seemed Bethany knew Jodie had framed Lily, given she also knew that Jodie was the one who had the recording in the first place.
Despite Jodie threatening to expose her fling with Kit Green if she said anything, Bethany clearly couldn't stand by and see her cousin be called out. As the episode came to an end, Bethany tracked Shona down and told her there was something she needed to tell her.
So, does Bethany expose Jodie to Shona, and will Lily be in the clear? Fans will have to tune into Thursday's dramatic episode to find out. Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITV X.
