Jacob Roberts has become a firm favourite on Coronation Street as Kit Green, but what do we know about his life off the cobbles? The actor joined the cast in 2024, playing bent copper Kit who rocked up as Bernie Winter’s (Jane Hazlegrove) estranged son. It didn’t take him long to become involved in some big soap moments.
Things are taking a dramatic turn for Kit after his girlfriend Sarah (Tina O'Brien) was arrested for murdering Theo Silverton (James Cartwright). In Tuesday’s episode (July 21), Sarah was told she would likely be sent straight to prison. With Kit attempting to help her get away with the crime, his superior, DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers), is on to him.
Jacob's Rival Soap Role and Career Low Point
Before his Coronation Street stint, Jacob played Damon Kinsella on Hollyoaks, remaining on the Channel 4 soap for six years before leaving in 2023. He then bagged the role as Kit on Coronation Street a year later. However, just three weeks before starting on the soap, Jacob was clambering up ladders erecting aerials, having been unable to find other acting work since leaving Hollyoaks.
“It was a low moment. Eight months previously I was on TV and now I was in the freezing cold rain on top of a roof, fiddling with a TV aerial. It was winter and I was outside up a ladder in the cold, instead of inside in the warm doing lines – it was a total reality check and hard to take,” he shared. Jacob added: “I was dreading anyone recognising me and saying: ‘Weren’t you on Hollyoaks?’ I wasn’t being pretentious, but I was there to work and I didn’t want the attention.”
Jacob's Girlfriend He Met on Corrie
In October 2025, Jacob went Instagram official with his new girlfriend, whom he met on the ITV soap: Coronation Street’s publicity manager Caitlin Connolly. Talking about their alleged romance, a source at the time claimed that they had “been together for a while” and are “besotted with each other,” with the insider noting “it’s been an open secret they’re an item for quite a while.”
Since then, the pair have gone from strength to strength. Also in October, Jacob shared a PDA-packed photo of the pair kissing and captioned the post: “My love [love heart emoji] to the Ainsworth’s.” Their Corrie castmates approve of the romance, with plenty rushing to the comments to swoon. Sydney Martin who plays Betsy Swain wrote: “Beautiful couple.” Maria Connor actress Samia Longchambon penned: “Gorgeous pair!” Jacob’s on-screen girlfriend Tina O’Brien who plays Sarah said: “Oh you two!” Lisa Swain actress Vicky Myers also penned: “Gorgeous.”
Jacob's Real Height
Throughout his time on the show, Kit's impressive height has frequently been referenced, with David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) even dubbing him the Jolly Green Giant. The actor stands at an impressive 6ft 4in tall, and Jacob has previously admitted that filming scenes in the legendary Rovers Return proved somewhat tricky given his towering frame.
“I love it, but I'm 6ft 4in so I don't really fit in the Rovers,” he revealed in 2024. “Every time I stand at the bar they have to raise the level of the top of the bar. It feels like they're making such an effort, just for me to stand in the scene!”
