Former Coronation Street villain Callum Harrison has marked 10 years since a horror storyline that changed his life, teasing a possible return to the ITV soap.
Clayton Hibbs and Kylie Platt's death
Harrison played Clayton Hibbs, who was responsible for the shocking death of Kylie Platt in 2016. Clayton murdered the mum-of-two as she tried to protect her friend Gemma Winter from him and his gang. Kylie was stabbed in the chest and died in her husband David Platt's arms.
At the time, Kylie and David had been planning to join Becky for a new life in Barbados. She had popped out to buy a bottle of champagne when her life was cut short. Clayton fled the scene and was later found guilty of killing Kylie in October 2016.
10-year anniversary reflection
Last week marked 10 years since the shocking scenes aired. Harrison took to Instagram to share his thoughts, posting dramatic images from the storyline and behind-the-scenes snaps. He wrote: "10 years ago I had the incredible privilege of being part of one of the most unforgettable moments in Coronation Street history - the death of Kylie Platt! wow! where does time go?"
He added: "Looking back now, it's hard to believe I was only 17 years old, at that age I could never have imagined being trusted with such a huge storyline on one of the country's most iconic shows. It was an honor to be part of such an emotional and powerful story, while working alongside an amazing cast and crew who made every scene so special & made every day a pleasure. I learned so much from working alongside these talented people at such a young age! those experiences have stayed with me throughout my life."
Harrison continued: "What I remember most from this time was just how much life changed overnight, suddenly people wanted to stop & chat about the storyline to share how invested they had become in it. It was something I'd never experienced before, such a surreal & exciting, but incredibly humbling experience to realize just how much it meant to so many people."
Teasing a return
He noted that he was originally contracted for seven episodes but has returned on several occasions. He said: "Each return has felt like coming home, it really is one big family and I'm incredibly grateful that what started as a short stint became an ongoing part of my career."
Harrison rounded off his post by teasing: "Will Clayton return ;)?@coronationstreet."
Jack P Shepherd, who plays David Platt, also remembered the storyline on social media, sharing behind-the-scenes photos and videos. He wrote: "10 years ago we said goodbye to Kylie Platt, here’s some behind the scenes pictures and vids, it was a great story & the most challenging story I’ve played. Forever missed." Paula Lane, who played Kylie, responded: "Our song was on the radio the other day and every time it reminds me... Lana Del Rey - Video Games! Yep, we were great!"
