Coronation Street fans have spotted actor Sam Robertson in the United States, where he is supporting Scotland at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The 40-year-old, who plays Adam Barlow on the ITV soap, was filmed at Gillette Stadium in Boston ahead of Scotland's match against Morocco.
Sam Robertson's Journey from Weatherfield to the World Cup
Robertson, originally from Dundee, joined Coronation Street in 2004 at age 18 after reportedly dropping out of his drama and English course at the University of Manchester. He took over the role of Adam Barlow from Iain De Caestecker, who played the character from 2001 to 2003. Robertson stayed for four years until his character left Weatherfield for Portsmouth. He returned three years later after Ken Barlow's stroke and has remained on the cobbles ever since.
Fan Reactions to the Sightings
In a video shared by Boston Sports Tours on TikTok, Robertson was seen chatting with fellow fans and appeared in high spirits. Asked how the experience had been, he said: "Beyond epic, man. Absolutely better than my wildest dreams. Incredible." Fans responded enthusiastically on social media, with one commenting: "Hahaha love it," another saying: "Go on Adam!!! lol," and a third adding: "Love him in Corrie."
Scotland's World Cup Performance
Scotland won their first group match but suffered a 1-0 defeat to Morocco in their second game. Despite the loss, Robertson and the Tartan Army remained upbeat, with videos showing fans singing "Sunshine on Leith" in a Boston bar.
Beyond Coronation Street
Robertson has taken part in other TV projects, including Sky One's The Match in 2005 and 2006, the BBC Scotland soap River City as Innes Maitland in 2009, and the E4 series Beaver Falls in 2011. He also appeared on Channel 4's Celebrity Big Brother, where he was the second housemate evicted. During his eviction speech, he said: "If anyone's voted for me already, thanks so much, it really means a lot. But I'm ready to go, so keep Ryan in, he wants to stay."
