Coronation Street star Olivia Frances Brown has admitted the response to her character, Jodie Ramsey, since her arrival on the cobbles has been "intense" as she shared her own response to what people think of her ahead of more drama.
Viewers of the ITV soap, which is filmed in Salford, know that Jodie arrived in Weatherfield earlier this year, after she was first seen tied up in the back of a van being driven by Emmerdale returnee Graham Foster during a horror multi-vehicle pile-up in a historic crossover between the two programmes. It was after she escaped and ended up in the hospital that she came face-to-face with her long-lost sister, Shona Platt. Feeling sorry for her after Shona's frosty reception, her husband, David Platt, invited Jodie to stay at No.8 Coronation Street.
Jodie's trouble on the cobbles
But Corrie fans are aware that it may be a decision he lives to regret, as Jodie has been nothing but trouble and not only when it comes to her family, but she has also been seen making some Weatherfield residents targets of her unusual games, which links to a trinket box. Having previously attempted to get in between Shona and David, Jodie is now ramping up her plans to seemingly take over her sister's life, and it's recently been made clear that Jodie is trying to make Shona and her loved ones think she's suffering from post-natal depression as she struggles with baby Harper.
In upcoming scenes, Jodie will make her next attempt to wipe her sister from the picture. Convinced she's owed her own shot at happiness, she shamelessly declares to David that he "deserves someone that will treat you right." But Shona won't take the ultimate sister betrayal lying down, and the preview ends with a face-off between the two sisters, with Shona's ultimatum for Jodie to back off from her husband "before I drag you away."
Gunshot drama ahead
It's been confirmed that next week, a flashforward will take viewers to No.8, where the living room is strewn with someone's belongings as a paramedic tends to a casualty on the floor. In the present day, a family feud between Shona and Jodie reaches its breaking point: accusations fly and secrets are exposed, pushing one of them to their limit. When a weapon is drawn, the situation spirals into chaos, and a gunshot rings out. As the dust settles, one person lies stricken, and the family is left reeling in horror. But who has been shot, and will they survive?
Olivia's response to fans
It looks set to leave Jodie in a more damaging light, and Olivia has already spoken about the reaction to her divisive character. Asked about the reaction by the Manchester Evening News at the Inside Soap Awards 2026, the actress said: "Oh, wow. Strong. Intense. A lot of people have had a lot of things to say. Not necessarily nice things, but that's because Jodie isn't a very likeable character, and it was all to be expected because she just ruffles feathers wherever she goes."
When asked if that's difficult to deal with, Olivia admitted: "It's new. It can be intense sometimes, but people, they're allowed to... That's the whole point of her character. That's what I was supposed to come in and do. Leave people guessing, leave people wondering what she's all about, and she's not meant to be particularly well-liked." She added: "Some people do say she's like Marmite, and there are a lot of, I think, likeable qualities about her when you really get into it with her, and you see what's going on in her head. But a lot of people have just decided, 'No, no, no. I don't want anything to do with her!'"
