Michael Le Vell, best known for playing Kevin Webster on Coronation Street, was once married to his co-star Janette Beverley. The couple met on the ITV set in 1986 and tied the knot the same year, but their marriage ended in divorce in 2011.
A Long-Standing Soap Career
Le Vell has been a staple of Coronation Street for over four decades, first appearing as Kevin Webster in 1983 when the character arrived as Hilda Ogden's tenant. Over the years, Kevin has been at the center of numerous major storylines, including his marriage to Sally Webster (Sally Dynevor) and his current relationship with Abi Franklin (Sally Carman).
More recently, Kevin has faced testicular cancer and dealt with Abi's betrayal with his distant relative Carl. His sister Debbie (Sue Devaney) is also living with young-onset vascular dementia.
Meeting and Marriage on the Cobbles
Janette Beverley played Elaine Pollard, the partner of Curly Watts (Kevin Kennedy), on Coronation Street in 1984. She also appeared in the comedy series Sharon and Elsie as Sharon Wilkes. Le Vell and Beverley had two children together before divorcing in 2011.
After the divorce, Le Vell began a relationship with Louise Gibbons in 2014. The couple got engaged in 2017 and married in a lavish ceremony in May 2024, attended by several Coronation Street co-stars, including Sally Dynevor, Alan Halsall, and Joe Duttine.
Life After Divorce
Le Vell has kept much of his personal life private, but his wedding to Gibbons was a public affair. The ceremony was held in May 2024, with family, friends, and fellow cast members in attendance. According to reports, Le Vell and Gibbons met through her brother, who is Le Vell's local bookmaker.
