Coronation Street's Jane Hazlegrove Reveals Happy Marriage to Soap Star Wife

Coronation Street star Jane Hazlegrove, known for playing Bernie Winter on the ITV soap, has a real-life love story far happier than her character's. The actress, who joined the show in 2019, is married to fellow soap star Isobel Middleton, who has appeared in Emmerdale and Harry Potter.

The couple tied the knot in 2015 after initially becoming civil partners in 2010. Hazlegrove, 58, has spoken about how Middleton's illness prompted them to formalise their relationship. She told Metro: 'The reason we did it was because Isobel hadn't been well. It became very clear that I wasn't really allowed to know anything about how she was because we weren't related, even though we'd lived together for 15 years.'

Hazlegrove praised her wife during a 2019 appearance on Lorraine, saying: 'She's sensational, a really beautiful woman. I am very obsessed.' She jokingly attributed their 28-year relationship's longevity to never having worked together on screen.

Middleton has played three different characters in Emmerdale, including Jean Rawson in 2020, a barrister in 2018, and Dr Lane in 2014. She also appeared in EastEnders as Sadie Banks and voiced characters in the Harry Potter series. Hazlegrove's credits include London's Burning, The Bill, Doctors, and Holby City before joining Coronation Street.

The couple were recently seen together at Manchester Pride, wearing matching sunglasses on the Coronation Street bus. Coronation Street airs on ITV1 and ITVX on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 8pm.
