Corrie Star Confirms Christina Boyd Backstory Revelations

Coronation Street star Amy Robbins has confirmed that viewers will learn more about Christina Boyd in upcoming scenes, which she has described as "revelatory." The actress reprised the role of Christina Boyd in the ITV soap last autumn, after she was last seen on the cobbles earlier that same year, when she was double-crossed by her daughter, Daisy Midgeley.

Christina's Troubled Past

As fans saw, Christina was in cahoots with Daisy to scam Jenny Connor out of a windfall. However, Daisy rumbled that Christina was working with catfish Dom, who was there to fleece Jenny out of her cash by acting as a new love interest who could double her investment. Instead of confronting her, Daisy got her hands on the cash herself and did a runner to Bali. Christina also left the street in the aftermath. Then, in August, Christina was seen back in Weatherfield, much to Jenny's dismay.

As Corrie fans know, Christina was soon seen growing close to George Shuttleworth, who Jenny also had a crush on. But Jenny ended up leaving the cobbles and both George and Christina have seen their romance blossom ever since. However, Christina's behaviour is currently sparking suspicion in Corrie. During Monday's (July 6) visit to Weatherfield, Summer Spellman tried to avoid George and Christina in the Rovers before the latter convinced her to join them back at home. George apologised profusely to Summer for ever suspecting her of Theo Silverton's murder, which she was briefly imprisoned for, and swore that he would spend the rest of his life making it up to her.

Upcoming Revelations

With Summer expressing her hurt, but appearing ready to move on from the ordeal, which saw her charged and put behind bars for weeks for Theo's murder, Christina headed to put the kettle on, but when her phone vibrated, her face dropped when she saw who it was, and she quickly killed the call. Amy has now been speaking about what's ahead for her character, albeit without giving too much away. Speaking to Inside Soap, the actress explained that viewers will discover a lot more about Christina in upcoming scenes, including her tough experience of being a mother.

"The next few months will be revelatory; you’ll find out a lot about her and why motherhood was so difficult for her – it will explain a lot," she teased. "I’ve worked as a Samaritan and I’ve realised there’s always a reason why people suffer or have a difficult life. Exploring Christina’s past is a big old rabbit hole you could go down and never come out of." Previously speaking about her Corrie return, Amy told the Metro: "This is my third or fourth return. My character Christina behaved so abominably the first time that I just couldn’t see anyway she’d come back. When they phoned me to ask me back again it was the happiest day. I went 'woo-hoo!' I love it so much."
