Corrie 'killer' teases Weatherfield return with festive selfie

Coronation Street star Nathan Sussex, who plays Richie Parkinson, has appeared to tease a return to the cobbles after posting a selfie from the Salford-based set this week as filming for upcoming Christmas episodes takes place.

While details of what lies ahead for Christmas 2026 have yet to be revealed, earlier this month actor Ryan Mulvey gave fans of the ITV soap a first look at this year's festivities in Weatherfield. The Brody Michaelis star took to TikTok with a video of clips captured while filming upcoming scenes, with soaps often filming anywhere from 8 to 10 weeks in advance.

Festive Set Glimpses

In the clips, snow could be seen covering the street, with Alison King (Carla Connor-Swain), David Neilson (Roy Cropper), Sue Devaney (Debbie Webster), Peter Gunn (Brian Packham), Pauline McLynne (Maggie Driscoll), Catherine Tyldesley (Eva Price), Aaron McCusker (Ben Driscoll), and Sally Carman-Duttine (Abi Webster) all involved in what appeared to be night filming at the Greater Manchester set.

Now Nathan Sussex has also shared a glimpse of a festive-looking Weatherfield, as the actor appeared to tease that he may be back on-screen soon.

Richie's Storyline

As Corrie fans know, he joined the long-running programme earlier this year in the role of Richie Parkinson. In his first scenes, Tim Metcalfe was surprised to pick up his cousin, Richie, whom he hadn't seen in years, as a fare in the precinct. With his wife, Sally, away, Tim invited Richie over for drinks with the lads. Tim and Richie reminisced about their childhood, and when the other lads left, Richie confided in Tim about his unhappy marriage. Tim offered him a place to stay for the night, which Richie accepted, but he had to make himself scarce following Sally's return.

Tim advised Richie to try to sort things out with his wife, Rachel, so he headed home, but he accidentally left his wallet behind. When Tim returned later on, he was left in shock as he saw Richie's shirt covered in blood and Rachel lying lifeless on the floor. After Richie was arrested and charged with the crime, it was confirmed that his daughter, Lucy, would be placed in temporary foster care. But when her placement fell through, Tim went behind Sally's back and organised a meeting with the social worker, saying he and his wife would take her in, as they had done with the Michaelis children - Brody, Joanie and Shanice.

Festive Tease

While the storyline appears to still have some way to go, Nathan took to Instagram with a smiling selfie outside a decorated Rovers return and told his followers: "Very festive in Weatherfield," before adding a winking face and Christmas tree emojis.

It comes after Nathan teased in August that there could be more to his Corrie story. Speaking during an interview with BBC Radio Wales, the former Hollyoaks star said: "When you get a job like this, they kind of tell you the story arc. But, of course, because it's a new storyline, I only know stuff up until a certain period." He hinted Christmas could be a big time, as Nathan added: "All I know is it's quite a big Christmas hook, and you know the dream, I would love to be in Coronation Street on Christmas Day. While you're tucking into your Ferrero Rochers or your Roses, yes, I'll be on your screens. I don't know. Perhaps. Isn't that the dream?"
