Coronation Street fans are convinced that Sarah Platt did not actually kill Theo Silverton, despite Monday night's flashback showing her striking him with a pipe. The episode revealed that Sarah hit the scaffolder over the head during a confrontation above the builder's yard, seemingly causing him to fall to his death. However, eagle-eyed viewers noticed that Theo's legs were still moving after the attack, leading to speculation that someone else finished him off.
Fans Spot Key Detail in Flashback
In the flashback, Sarah ran past The Kabin and across the cobbles after the incident. She then called ex-boyfriend Gary Windass for help, and the pair have been hiding the secret ever since. Gary's wife Maria has grown suspicious, believing they are having an affair. But fans on Instagram and Reddit are questioning whether Sarah is truly the killer. One fan wrote: "But did she? His leg definitely moved when Gary was texting!" Another added: "I thought it was obvious. Like, too obvious? I guess a double bluff kind of reveal?"
Potential Twist with Kit Green
Sarah is currently in a relationship with DC Kit Green, and she claimed she involved Gary because she couldn't tell Kit without risking his job. Fans predict that Kit may frame Gary to protect Sarah. A Reddit user speculated: "I think what will happen now is it will be ANOTHER super duper twist – honestly it's time to put these crime storylines to bed because they are just exhausting – in which Kit will frame Gary to protect Sarah. They're already making it so obvious that Kit's got all that silly macho envy against Gary and vice versa."
Sarah's History with Murder Plots
This is not the first time Sarah has been caught up in a murder. In 2015, her sister-in-law Kylie Platt killed Sarah's love interest Callum Logan with a wrench after he attacked Sarah. Sarah, Kylie, and Sarah's brother David Platt covered up the crime by burying the body under their house. Sarah's mental health suffered, and she was admitted to a psychiatric unit. Now, actress Tina O'Brien, who has played Sarah since 1999, has hinted that her character could face prison this time. She said: "If she’d have called the police straight away and explained what happened, she would have been in a much better situation, because it was clearly not pre-meditated, it was a situation where she felt she had no other choice. But to cover it up, to actively cover something up, she knows that she crossed a line that she can't come back from."
Actress Tina O'Brien on Exit Fears
Regarding whether Sarah might leave the show, Tina added: "I genuinely didn't worry, at the end of the day this job is incredible, but to be an actor is not necessarily a job for life. So, I just was really excited to be given the honour of being the murderer, and then hopefully, however it plays out, I’ll enjoy Sarah's arc." Coronation Street airs weeknights at 8:30pm on ITV1 and ITV X.
