Coronation Street fans were quick to point out a glaring Liam Connor Jr blunder in the latest episode of the long-running show, but there is something they may have missed.
As those who follow the ITV soap have witnessed, tensions are high in the Windass-Connor household after Maria became suspicious that her husband, Gary, was having an affair with his former flame, Sarah Platt.
Dinner Party Drama and Murder Cover-Up
Her accusations came spilling out as she and Gary joined Todd Grimshaw and Summer Spellman for a very awkward dinner party at Sarah's flat, hosted by her boyfriend, DC Kit Green, last month.
While the truth wasn't revealed around the table, for Corrie viewers, it was soon revealed that all their hushed conversations and support of one another in public were for a reason - as Gary ended up helping cover up Theo Silverton's murder for Sarah, as she was uncovered as his killer.
In flashback scenes, it was Sarah who appeared to deal the blow that sent a drunk Theo tumbling off the scaffolding outside his flat and plummeting to the ground - before she called on ex Gary for help.
Sarah's Arrest and Gary's Confession
Corrie fans later watched as Sarah confessed the truth to Todd, while Kit remained determined to pin Theo's murder on Gary, not realising that he had been covering for Sarah. That was until she confessed to her copper beau last week, just as he was trying to pop the question.
Her world came crashing down this week, as despite Kit's attempts to help cover up her crime, Sarah was arrested on suspicion of killing Theo, and has since been charged due to the significant evidence against her.
During Wednesday's (July 22) visit to Weatherfield, Gary had to come clean to Maria about his role in Theo's death, after she saw a photo on Sally Metcalfe's phone which proved he was at Theo's flat on the night of his death.
In Thursday's (July 23) follow-up episode of Corrie, it was clear tensions remained as Maria put on a façade in front of their children, Liam and Jake. However, she was thinking about retracting the statement she gave to the police, which gave Gary a false alibi for the night of Theo's death.
But as Gary waited with bated breath, he was relieved when Maria told him she couldn't go through with it for the sake of their boys. Meanwhile, Corrie fans were distracted by Liam and Jake's appearance in the scenes, thanks to the former's football shirt.
Shirt Spelling Blunder Explained
@thechanelbootss asked: "Why is connor spelt wrong on liam's football shirt." @editedbysoph replied: "I was so confused and for a sec I was like 'have I spelt Carla’s last name wrong the entire time?!'" @JenniferD92 commented: "Erm...how long has this family been on street? However, other Corrie fans were quick to point out why Liam's Weatherfield County shirt said 'Conner' on the back instead of 'Connor'. @carlasmissus posted: "So many tweets about about connor being spelt wrong on liam jr’s shirt omfg… kirk bought it, it was literally shown in an ep, i promise corrie know how to spell connor."
@Mr_Ben_Adams also pointed out in response to anothe rpost: "It’s a Kirk purchase."
