Corrie fans predict Sarah Platt will avoid murder charge

Coronation Street viewers are convinced they have figured out what will happen to Sarah Platt after her arrest for the murder of Theo Silverton, and it could see her avoid punishment. The ITV soap revealed last month that Sarah was responsible for the abuser's death after he lured her to his flat under false pretences using his husband Todd Grimshaw's phone.

Theo Silverton's death and investigation

Theo's lifeless body was discovered by a horrified Betsy Swain on the night of her mother Lisa Swain's wedding to Carla Connor in April. Viewers first learned that Theo was among five villains at risk of being killed off during a February episode, which featured flashforward scenes of Betsy being interviewed by police about finding a dead body. A week after the wedding aired, it was revealed that Theo was the victim, after he tried to torment Todd one last time. His death triggered a murder investigation, with Corrie confirming Todd, George Shuttleworth, Summer Spellman, Christina Boyd, Gary Windass, and Danielle Silverton as suspects.

However, fans now know that Sarah delivered the blow that sent a drunk Theo tumbling off scaffolding outside his flat, plunging to the ground. She then called on her former flame, Gary Windass, for help. Sarah later confessed the truth to Todd, while detective Kit Green remained determined to pin the murder on Gary, unaware that Gary had been covering for Sarah. Sarah confessed to Kit last week, just as he was about to propose.

Arrest and evidence

Kit promised to protect Sarah from arrest and offered to have her and Gary's phones wiped clean. However, he was heard asking for a copy of the phone data, suggesting his plan wasn't to help Gary. During Monday's (July 20) episode, police finally made a major move. A panicked Sarah was interrupted by her brother David Platt, who wanted to record a birthday message for Audrey Roberts with her son Harry. Bethany joined them, but police barged in and arrested Sarah on suspicion of murder.

At Weatherfield police station, Lisa Swain interrogated Sarah and presented evidence that splatters of Theo's blood were found on her clothing from the night of the crime. The clothes had been taken as evidence from Sarah's own attack by Jodie Ramsey, which occurred after Theo's murder.

Fan theories and predictions

Despite the damning evidence, fans do not believe Sarah will be the one to go down for murder. Many think Kit will manipulate the situation to frame Gary. @RyanSoapKing25 said: "I hope Sarah doesn't frame Gary - for once he is innocent #Corrie." @snationed commented: "Sarah being manipulated into framing Gary by her truly awful boyfriend. #Corrie." @MeeshyJay wrote: "Kit is vile. He’s definitely going to try and frame Gary #corrie."

@mishybabez_ complained: "Kit is so desperate to pin this on Gary its getting boring. We get it you don't like him. Move on fgs #Corrie." However, @katsampson1984 suggested: "Gary's gonna take the rap, isn't he?" @snoosh2020 added: "It’s only a matter of time before Gary and Kit get dragged down. The police have Sarah and Gary’s phone."
