Coronation Street fans have been flooding Tina O'Brien with the same plea after her character Sarah Platt was revealed as the show's latest killer. The actress shared her first update since the dramatic reveal, teasing more twists to come.
Sarah Platt Confirmed as Theo Silverton's Killer
During Monday's episode (June 22), it was confirmed that Sarah Platt struck Theo Silverton, causing him to fall from scaffolding outside his flat. His body was later found by Betsy Swain on the night of her mother Lisa Swain's wedding to Carla Connor in April. Theo had been a physical and mental abuser to his partner Todd Grimshaw for 13 months.
The murder investigation had previously named Todd, George Shuttleworth, Summer Spellman, Christina Boyd, Gary Windass, and Danielle Silverton as suspects. The truth finally came out in a dramatic dinner party scene.
Tina O'Brien's Social Media Update
On Tuesday (June 23), Tina O'Brien took to Instagram with behind-the-scenes snaps, writing: "SPOILER ALERT. Well… the secret’s finally out. It’s been a strange few months keeping this storyline under wraps, and last night the truth about who killed Theo was finally revealed. Filming the dinner party scenes was such a great experience, and I’m so lucky to work with such a fantastic cast, crew and creative team." She added: "So now you all know who killed Theo… but the characters don’t. Trust me, there are still more twists to come. Thank you for watching and for loving Corrie as much as we love making it."
Fans Plead for Tina O'Brien to Stay
Fans quickly responded, many expressing hope that Sarah's involvement in the murder doesn't mean Tina will leave the show. @mattjj1989 said: "Well that was a dramatic episode! What's Next for Sarah Platt?
While her future on the show remains unconfirmed, Tina O'Brien has hinted at the aftermath. "She's handled the aftermath so badly that she now thinks, 'I have to put up and shut up!'" the actress said. "But whether she can long term, I'd be surprised." She added: "I'm not allowed to talk about it but the actual aftermath for me has been the best couple of months of filming as well. So, I'm really looking forward for that to all come out on screen soon."
