The harrowing storyline unfolded during Wednesday's (July 15) episode of the ITV soap, available on ITVX from 7am, when Ryan Connor discovered an unconscious Betsy. She was rushed to hospital, where doctors confirmed she had suffered a stroke caused by a blood clot, resulting from neck artery damage due to temporary loss of circulation.

After stabilising from a second stroke, an embarrassed and vulnerable Betsy revealed that her boyfriend, Dylan Wilson, strangled her during consensual sex, despite both believing the pressure applied was minimal. This disclosure has set the stage for a major storyline in the coming weeks.

Prior to Betsy's collapse, viewers had raised concerns about Lisa Connor-Swain.
