Former Coronation Street star Tracy Shaw has been seen shedding tears as she shared a raw cancer update with her followers, continuing to keep them updated on her journey with the devastating disease.
Cancer diagnosis and treatment
The actress, best known for playing Maxine Peacock on the ITV soap from 1995 to 2003, shared in April that she would need five months of chemotherapy after being diagnosed with breast cancer. The 52-year-old has been sharing regular updates on social media as she progresses through her treatment.
In late June, Tracy shared a video from A&E after going to the hospital, explaining she had 'really high temperatures yesterday and they spiked several times.' She thanked the NHS and staff, noting the difficulty of being in A&E with a low immune system.
Emotional ultrasound results
On Thursday (July 23), an emotional Tracy returned to social media from outside the hospital. She explained she had an ultrasound to check if lesions had shrunk and a lump on the other breast. The good news was that the lump turned out to be cysts. However, the lesions on her left breast had gone from circular to oval but not really shrunk in size.
Fighting tears, she said: 'I was just expecting some miraculous miracle.' She added: 'Or maybe it's to come. Maybe it's to come. All my love to you all.'
Support from fans
Tracy captioned her update: 'Ultra sound day. After hearing the news, went to TK max to buy more hats. Followed with a huge m&s food shop to cheer me up. Thankyou to you all for your lovely messages.' She was quickly flooded with messages of love and support.
