Coronation Street's Ryan Mulvey: Famous Dad, Hollyoaks, Panto

Ryan Mulvey, known for playing Brody Michaelis on Coronation Street, has a life off the cobbles that includes a famous father and a new role in pantomime. The actor made his debut on the ITV soap in 2025 as Brody, a teen who first appeared in the Secure Training Centre alongside Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne). After his release, Brody quickly stirred up trouble but later tried to reform to avoid following in the footsteps of his killer father, Mick (Joe Layton).

Ryan's Rival Soap Stint

Before joining Coronation Street, Ryan appeared on Hollyoaks. After studying Performing Arts at Manchester College, he landed the role of JJ Osborne in January 2024 and departed a year later. As JJ, he was involved in a dark storyline where his character sexually abused his twin sister Frankie, played by Isabelle Smith. Speaking in 2024, Ryan said: “Even though he is a villain, JJ does not see himself as that, so playing the delusion and denial in JJ has been super interesting. The part has pushed and challenged me hugely as an actor, but I’m super proud of the end product and humbled by the feedback we’ve received for the storyline.”

Ryan's Famous Father

Ryan's father is Eamon Mulvey, a senior academy coach and player development mentor for Manchester United, who helped train Marcus Rashford. His mother, Heidi, works for the National Grid. Ryan told The Mirror: “I am really close to both my parents and my sister, Freya. They are super proud of me. Dad coaches at the academy at Manchester United and he has an amazing job. My grandad used to play for Blackburn and my grandma, Carol, enjoys football more than all of us! There's a running joke in the family that I have never played football but I always get cast in a game!”

Packed with laugh-out-loud comedy, dazzling costumes, stunning special effects and plenty of festive magic, this promises to be the biggest Christmas panto of them all!”
