Coronation Street star Sam Aston has announced that his wife, Briony, is pregnant with their fourth child. The 32-year-old actor, who portrays Chesney Brown on the iconic ITV soap, already shares three children with Briony: son Sonny, five, and daughters Daisy, four, and Hazel, two. The couple confirmed the happy news on Thursday via social media, delighting their followers with a heartwarming video.

In the video, the couple's children can be seen being playfully dragged across the floor by their father, while Hazel holds the unborn child's first ultrasound images. The caption read: 'Here we go again... Baby Aston #4.' A Christmas tree emoji was added at the end, hinting that Briony may give birth around the festive season. Social media users were quick to share their congratulations, with one commenting: 'What a great way to announce it. Congratulations to you both.' Another wrote: 'Oh my goodness this is soooo exciting!!! Congratulations,' while a third added: 'Aww amazing massive congratulations to you all.'
Briony's Role as a Birth Doula
Briony works as a birth doula, providing physical, emotional, and informational support to expectant parents during pregnancy, labour, and the postpartum period. Following her own pregnancy announcement, she confirmed that she would be scaling back her work commitments ahead of the birth. She told Instagram followers: 'Now we've announced our news to the world, you can see why I've closed my books for mid-October onwards for in-person doula support. I've been at a couple of births whilst heavily pregnant in the past, and I've found it's just not practical with a huge bump, plus I'll need some time to protect my headspace in the lead up to my own birth. Doulas need to birth prep too!'
Previous Pregnancy Challenges
The couple married in May 2019 at Stock Farm, a stunning venue on the edge of Tatton Park in Cheshire. Briony gave birth to their eldest child, Sonny, six weeks prematurely in 2020. Sam revealed that his wife spent nine days in hospital while their baby son recovered from jaundice. Speaking to OK! magazine, the actor said: 'It was a bit of a shock for me. Everyone at work knew he wasn't due until September.' Briony added: 'It was hard at the time but looking back now I'd do it all again tomorrow. It was so nice to get home though.' Their situation was made even more difficult due to the pandemic, as Sam was only allowed to visit the pair in hospital for one hour a day. He explained: 'An hour felt like 10 minutes, especially early on as Briony was emotional as I was trying to be there and spend time with Sonny.' Briony noted that the time constraints were the most 'stressful' part, and she would often 'sob for an hour' before Sam had to leave.
