Coronation Street fans were left suspicious of Lauren Bolton following her reaction to how her friend, Betsy Swain, came to suffer a stroke, but others had a different view on what was troubling the teen.
Betsy's Stroke and Hospital Ordeal
It's been a heartbreaking week of scenes in the ITV soap after Betsy Swain was found collapsed on the kitchen floor of No.6 Coronation Street, before being rushed to the hospital, fighting for her life. As the storyline got underway during Wednesday's (July 15) episode of Corrie, a frantic Carla Connor-Swain made her way to the hospital where she found Ryan Connor, who explained how he found Betsy, before taking her to be with her wife, Lisa Connor-Swain, and their poorly daughter.
Later, doctors confirmed that the teenager had suffered a stroke, something Lisa struggled to get her head around due to her daughter's age. And things took a horror turn as, once her condition appeared to have stabilised, Betsy suffered a second stroke. It was after this that doctors confirmed it had been caused by a blood clot, which was the result of neck artery damage from a temporary loss of circulation. It left Betsy having to tell her mum that Dylan had strangled her during consensual sex, despite both believing the pressure applied was minimal.
Aphasia and Dysarthria Diagnosis
During Thursday's (July 16) follow-up episode, more of Betsy's results were in, and they confirmed to her and her family that the stroke had caused aphasia and dysarthria, but were hopeful she would make a good recovery. Despite her condition, Betsy pleaded with her mum not to blame Dylan for what had happened as she spoke about reporting the incident to the police. Soon, having headed back to the Street, Lisa came face-to-face with Dylan and challenged him on his behaviour so the whole cafe could hear.
Lauren's Reaction Sparks Suspicion
Among those watching were Dylan and Betsy's friends, Lauren and Brody Michaelis, but it was Lauren's reaction that seemingly sparked interest among Corrie viewers, who were divided in what they thought it could mean as they shared their views on social media. @creativesoul5 questioned: "I wonder if Lauren feels guilty. The camera kept panning to her. Did her and Betsy talk about this? #corrie." @Fake_TV_Chef said: "Is Lauren looking a bit suspicious here?
