Coleen Nolan Accused of Bullying by Granddaughter's Mother
Emma Kivell, the former girlfriend of Coleen Nolan's son Shane, has publicly labelled the Loose Women television personality a 'cruel bully' in a dramatic escalation of a long-running family dispute. The allegations centre on the breakdown of their relationship and Coleen's involvement with her granddaughter, Amelia-Rose.
A Relationship and a Daughter
Emma and Shane Nolan met through mutual friends in 2015 while both were working as Bluecoats at a holiday resort. The following year, they welcomed their daughter, Amelia-Rose. Although the couple were not in a formal relationship, Shane had reportedly promised to support Emma as a single mother following the birth. Coleen Nolan was even present at the delivery, initially appearing supportive of the situation.
Allegations of Cruelty and Control
Emma Kivell claims Coleen's attitude changed significantly over time. She alleges that Coleen stopped seeing Amelia-Rose for a period because she was unwilling to visit Emma's home. Emma told The Sun newspaper that Coleen's behaviour contributed to her having a breakdown.
'She'd call me every name under the sun, like 'you jealous b***h', and she was vile,' Emma stated. 'Coleen wanted me to know that she's in charge, she's got the power, and I'm nothing, that's how I felt.'
A Seven-Year Estrangement
The Daily Mail has reported that Coleen Nolan has not been able to see her granddaughter for nearly seven years. A source close to the situation confirmed there is 'no contact between the little girl and the Nolans'. This estrangement forms the bitter backdrop to the current accusations.
Dispute Over Fatherly Involvement and Support
The feud extends to Shane Nolan's role as a father. In September of last year, Shane took to social media to insist he had been paying child maintenance and even increased his contributions after a period during the Coronavirus pandemic when support was difficult.
'I would never not pay. We miss her and can't wait for one day for her to be in our lives,' he told his followers.
Emma Kivell vehemently disputes this characterisation. In a scathing social media post, she claimed Shane has not 'made any real effort to be involved' in his daughter's life.
'He's never asked how she is, how she's doing, if she needs anything, not even a message during the height of COVID,' she penned. 'Financial support stopped during that time too, and only resumed because of court enforcement.'
She further alleged that Shane was blocked from visitation due to 'breaches' of court orders, describing heartbreaking scenes where 'My little girl used to wait by the door for a dad who often wouldn’t turn up.'
Accusations of Pettiness and Toxicity
This latest outburst from Emma comes months after she previously criticised the Nolan family's 'toxicity and pettiness'. Directly addressing them, she stated: 'She doesn’t need your pettiness, or the toxicity from your side of the family. She has a strong, supportive, and loving one here.'
Emma questioned the timing of the family's narrative, asking 'why now after 7 years?' and suggesting Coleen had 'wrote her own version of the story anyway.' She concluded defiantly: 'speaking the truth does not make me the villain.'
Life Moves On for the Nolans
While this feud simmers, life has progressed for other members of the Nolan family. Last summer, it was revealed that Shane Jnr had found love with mortgage manager Kimberley Sallis, who has a 12-year-old daughter. Shane Jnr married former Miss Great Britain Maddie Wahdan in a lavish ceremony at Rushton Hall in Kettering in July 2022, though Amelia-Rose was notably not in attendance. The couple split in December 2023 amid reports Shane had cheated.
In June 2024, Coleen announced she was set to become a grandmother again, as her youngest son, Jake Roche, is expecting a boy with his fiancée Georgia.
Past Comments and Current Silence
Reflecting on becoming a grandmother for the first time, Coleen once told The Mirror: ‘They got together one night and there you go.’ She added, ‘But they’re not compatible in a relationship... That’s the best scenario for anyone. But then I thought "Oh my God I’m going to be a nanny and was thrilled".'
The Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Coleen Nolan for comment on the latest allegations, but no statement has been issued at this time. The very public airing of this private family grievance shows no signs of abating.
