George and Amal Clooney were spotted in Lake Como, Italy, this week as they prepared for an ultra-private fundraiser for their Foundation for Justice. The couple, married for ten years, appeared deeply affectionate, with George keeping a close arm on Amal as they stepped off a motorboat.
Amal shimmered in a slinky one-shouldered silver party dress with wrap detailing and hem fringe, while George wore a navy blue suit with a black shirt, leaving the top buttons undone. They were greeted by Silvio Vettorello, General Manager of the properties, who ensured their safety on the dock.
The Clooneys launched the Foundation for Justice to provide free legal aid in defense of free speech and women’s rights in over 40 countries. The foundation's work includes representing Yazidi women raped by ISIS and supporting survivors of atrocities in Congo and Sudan.
In 2022, they held the inaugural Albie Awards, which highlight brave individuals fighting for justice. Guests at the 2024 event included Emily Blunt, Donatella Versace, and Charlotte Tilbury. The couple is reportedly planning a mid-August event for around 16 influential philanthropists, including a cocktail party at their Lake Como residence, Villa Oleandra.
The De Santis family, who own Grand Hotel Tremezzo and other properties, have helped turn Lake Como into an A-list destination. In 2024, Valentina De Santis became the first woman in 100 years to assume the role of owner and CEO of the famous properties.
