Clarkson to grow and build his own car from farm produce

Jeremy Clarkson will grow and build his very own car using produce from his Diddly Squat Farm in a new stand-alone Prime Video episode, Jeremy Grows A Car: A Clarkson’s Farm Special.

The 66-year-old presenter, best known for Top Gear and The Grand Tour, currently fronts the farming series where he attempts to run a farm in the English countryside. In the new special, he will go back to his motoring roots.

Recreating a Jaguar F-Type V6S

Clarkson will attempt to recreate a Jaguar F-Type V6S, with a focus on ensuring the design features three crucial elements: style, luxury and performance.

Alongside his Diddly leather interior and wool carpets, Clarkson will also attempt to grow a crop of flax fibre and turn it into a flax-composite, a sustainable alternative to carbon fibre.

Designer Ian Callum on board

Clarkson will bring car designer Ian Callum, founder of design and engineering firm CALLUM and the man who designed the original F-Type and the Aston Martin Vanquish, on board to help him with the ambitious project.

Clarkson revealed earlier this year that he had been diagnosed with “aggressive” prostate cancer, which had been discovered early, during an episode of Clarkson’s Farm. He later said a PSA test in April showed no indication of cancer and he is in remission.

Career and awards

Clarkson began presenting Top Gear in 1988 and later fronted the BBC revival series in 2002 alongside Richard Hammond and James May. The trio later presented Prime Video’s motoring series The Grand Tour, which launched in 2016.

His current show, Clarkson’s Farm, also on Prime Video, documents the goings on at the presenter’s 1,000-acre farm in West Oxfordshire and picked up the reality docuseries prize at the National Television Awards in September.

The one-off special will be available to stream on Prime Video next year, with a date yet to be confirmed.
